No matter what you do or what you want to achieve in life, never give up, always keep going and never stop

Dad is usually our first hero and though he may not have all the formal qualifications, he is often our first teacher as well (sure, Mum may have also played a role here :P).

To honour all the in-house educators (AKA Dads) this Father’s Day we asked the TAFE NSW community what their Dad taught them and here are their most memorable lessons:

  • How to bait a hook and put on a Trifecta! – Lisa
  • The value of negotiation – Kate
  • Patience, simplicity and honesty – Bhavin
  • I didn’t grow up with a Father. So I suppose the lesson my dad taught me was to be around for your kids! – Brendon
  • No matter what you do or what you want to achieve in life, never give up, always keep going and never stop. You will have setbacks in life, things won’t always go the way you want or expect them to go but as long as you pick yourself up and keep on trying you will always be successful and achieve those things you set out to – Alison
  • Never build a ceiling above your career because the room for growth is endless. The moment you put a ceiling above you is the moment you limit yourself from growing – Justan
  • How to dig a trench, drive combines, tractors and diggers and all other vehicles imaginable! He taught me the history of our family, home and relatives and many good tales. He also taught me that I should never be late for anything, especially Mass! – Geraldine
  • How to build a camp fire, make damper and skin a rabbit. – Gary
  • Never to borrow money from anyone, never to spend money that I don’t have and how to cook an egg in the microwave – Ruth
